An overwhelming number of brands and watches…trends that will dictate the future…mind-blowing watches that represent pinnacles of watchmaking expertise…that’s what the Baselworld fair was all about.
Here are our watch picks from Baselworld 2017
Manero PowerReserve by Carl F. Bucherer
Colour takes a centre stage here…and quite boldly! The watch draped in green, the colour of the year. It is issued in a 188-piece limited edition. The graded shades you see on the dial are quite complex to create…the pine green tones gently move towards a lighter and shinier hue in the centre. A sophisticated mechanism adds to the allure of the piece!
1770 Flying Tourbillon Openwork by Manufacture Royale
Openworking is always a source of fascination for those who love watching watches work! This new version of the brand’s openwork tourbillon movement is expressed with the classic elegance of the 1770 collection. The components are openworked to reveal a mechanical sculpture consisting of watch components, space, shadow and light. A feat of balance and strength, the structure of the movement revolves around the symmetry of the barrel at 12 o’clock and the tourbillon at 6 o’clock. A unique vision of horology and style.
Cellini Moonphase by Rolex
The Cellini collection has always been known for elegance and sophistication, and one more watch is now a part of it. This watch has an exclusive display of the phases of the moon. The movement is housed in a 39 mm case in 18 carat Everose gold. The self-winding mechanical movement is entirely manufactured by Rolex with a patented complication to display the moonphases. The Cellini Moonphase is fitted on a brown alligator leather strap with a folding Crownclasp in 18 carat Everose gold, a first for a Cellini model.
Marine Équation Marchante by Breguet
This beautiful watch features a rare complication, the equation of time. It serves to display the difference between mean solar time, corresponding to civil or standard hours and minutes, and true solar time, meaning the actual solar hours and minutes. Crafted in platinum, this watch features new aesthetic signature codes giving it a modern and dynamic appearance. A truly magnificent timepiece, the “Grande Complication” marks the start of a new era.
Mobilis by Louis Moinet
This watch comes with a great technical feat- it is the first and only Double Tourbillon whose function is to power a watch complication – the first patent application of its kind. The design features two huge tourbillon cages, one rotating clockwise and the other, counter-clockwise. In fact, the latter patent pending. Use of cutting edge materials makes the watch light and an all-new, intricate design highlights the aesthetics. The captivating optical effect on the dial as well as the beautifully executed skeleton-working just adds to the aura of the watch!
Though by no means exhaustive, we hope you have enjoyed the watch picks from Baselworld 2017…but, watch this space…there is more to come!
