While the event heralded the return of car racing to the French capital, it brought with the complete thrill of watching cars zoom past at 220 km/h at the Boulevard de la Tour-Maubourg. TAG Heuer has been closely working with the FIA World Championship to bring electric car racing to every major city in the world. The first e-Prix took place in Beijing, China in September 2014.
The inaugural of e-Prix in Paris was marked by the unveiling of the customised Formula-E showcar created by Lapo Elkann and his design agency Garage Custom Italia. The car was auctioned for €1,20,000 at the gala dinner in the presence of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco and Alejandro Agag, CEO of Formula E Holdings.
Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of TAG Heuer & President of the LVMH Group Watch Division, said: “TAG Heuer has always been one step ahead of the times. Formula E is the biggest innovation in motor racing and entertainment of the last 10 years. The success of the races on the streets of cities such as Beijing, China, and Buenos Aires, Mexico, shows the ability of the Championship to connect the people of today with a brighter future. It targets young people who are concerned about the environment, interested in technology and who enjoy a good time.”
