SIHH 2018 – The 28th edition of Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) is all set to take place between January 15th and 19th of 2018. HOT brings you a know-it-all pre-event sneak peek.
Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) has time and again proved its mettle amongst watch brands, especially independent ones. As it readies itself for the 28th edition, this major event of the luxury watchmaking world will usher in new developments. On 15th January, SIHH 2018 will welcome 35 exhibitors – 18 historic maisons and 16 brands in Carre des Horlogers. These brands will put forth the best innovations, novelties and technological advances in fine watchmaking before professionals, journalists and collectors from across the globe. It is certainly on a growth path, or shall we say ‘highway.’
SIHH 2018 – Change is good!
One of the noteworthy changes at SIHH 2018 will be the expansion of the central aisles to accommodate brands such as Hermès. Carre des Horlogers will be back with its dedicated space for independent watchmakers. New entrants in this category include Armin Strom, DeWitt, Chronometrie Ferdinand Berthoud, elegante by F. P. Journe and Romain Gauthier.
Keeping up with the pace of innovation, SIHH 2018 offers its exhibitors a new area for working and networking. This zone comprises a 100-seat auditorium, which is fully equipped for filming and live streaming to different SIHH channels including social media. This auditorium is comfortable and hyper-connected. It will witness talks, panel discussions and product presentations from the exhibitors.
Journalists are in for a treat as the press area has been redesigned to accommodate their needs. It will also have a spacious restaurant. A Discovery Zone will be installed, which will offer hard-to-find publications about watches as well as exhibition of unique timepieces.
In keeping with the wonderful trend initiated by SIHH, the show will be thrown open to the public on Friday, 19th January, to come and experience fine watchmaking at close quarters. It will be a ticketed event and would-be visitors can check out the SIHH site for more details.
Centre of luxury watchmaking
SIHH has over the past 27 years underscored its position as the epicentre of find watchmaking. Selectiveness and exclusivity have been the cornerstones of this event. “There is no intention of extending SIHH indefinitely. It will grow within carefully measured limits so as to preserve the values of excellence that have forged its reputation. It must also meet the expectations of its exhibitors and clients, both now and in the future,” commented SIHH Managing Director, Fabienne Lupo.
Each year SIHH comes with a promise to be exciting and innovative for the stakeholders of the global luxury watch industry. Today the world is eagerly awaiting for SIHH to open its doors and unveil top-of-the-class novelties for 2018. Stay tuned to www.handsontime.in for live updates on the salon.
