Rocky Star showcased his new collection Vida at London Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2017.
Vida explores the concept of beauty, something that is talked about so much, but whose meaning is rarely understood in depth. Vida was all about discovering the path to the soul. After all, the only lasting beauty is that of the soul…its simplicity and its ability to look beyond what meets the eye. ‘Vida’, the Sanskrit word for discovery signifies a trail of unspoken emotion. It signifies the ability to look within and to understand that beauty is in fact what you feel on the inside.
How does this philosophy translate into bespoke clothing? Its simple actually….look between the cracks, thus finding beauty in its imperfection! The philosophy of Vida finds bespoke and beautiful expression in the collection. The designs have influences and traces of the baroque and gothic time periods. Its heritage and old world charm calls for deeper scrutiny…to look within.
The collection exudes old world charm with new age magic in dramatic silhouettes and decorative prints. The colour palette signified the contrasting sides of a soul- joy and fear in contrasting shades of ivory and black with undertones of dusty greys and smooth beiges. Textured lace and embroideries with free flowing silhouettes and flattering cuts highlighted the grandeur of the gothic time period. Every piece has evidence of intricate craftsmanship which blended in seamlessly with the entire philosophy of the collection. This mystical affair with hints of Indian art colliding with the echoes of Italian maestros was another aesthetic feature of the collection.
Vida created ripples at the London Fashion Week. It came right from the heart of India to the ramp of London. Rocky Star once again showed that feelings and philosophies can and do find expression in beautiful garments!
