Speedster Alain Prost meets timekeeping artist Richard Mille. And together they create the RM 70-01 Tourbillon Alain Prost.
Alain Prost is a name to reckon with in the world of cycling. He is the four-time Formula 1 World Champion and the co-founder of the Renault e.dams team. Richard Mille, known for technical innovation in watches, has taken keen interest in cycling. Together the two have combined their efforts to make a unique horological creation. It’s a new RM70-01 calibre tourbillon, featuring an unprecedented odometer!

Counting the miles
R&D led Richard Mille to realise that cyclists find it difficult to track kilometres they had ridden since the beginning of the season. That’s why the Maison has introduced never-before-seen totaliser in the RM 70-01. It simply displays the overall distance travelled. The user only needs to add the day’s distance to the prior total.
The 70-hour power reserve of the watch is visible at 5 o’clock. The manual winding tourbillon calibre sports a baseplate and bridges in grade 5 titanium. Quite a few elements are drawn from the realm of cycling. For instance, the titatium screws, the tourbillon cage and dynamometric crown.
RM 70-01’s case is perhaps its most distinct aspect. Made of Carbon TPT®, it perfectly combines tonneau, rectangular and asymmetrical shapes. Ergonomically designed, the watch sits perfectly on the wrist as the wearer grips the cycle’s handlebars.
RM 70-01 Tourbillon Alain Prost is produced in a limited edition of 30 pieces. To add to its charm, each buyer will be gifted a bespoke road cycle. Alain Prost and Richard Mille have roped in Italian bikemaker Colnago. Together they have created individually numbered bicycles for buyers. Each of the bicycle is hand-made and hand-painted in Richard Mille’s colours. RM 70-01 is indeed a rare ‘gift’ for watch connoisseurs and cyclists alike.
