Rare, unique and beautiful are all hallmarks of the truly luxurious and meteorites are definitely all of those things. It seems appropriate then, that the newest avatar of Jaquet Droz’s iconic 8-shaped Grande Seconde watches features a dial exquisitely crafted from a real meteorite.
Grande Seconde Off-Centered Meteorite
Fallen from the Sky
A meteorite is a piece of an asteroid or comet that has travelled light-years through space and somehow made it through the layers of the Earth’s atmosphere and landed undamaged, and that alone makes it pretty special!
The idea of using this incredibly hard and resilient material to create the dial of a beautiful timepiece is testament to Jaquet Droz’s creativity and the skill and precision of the watchmakers and artisans themselves.
Three limited variations of the Grande Seconde Off-Centered Meteorite watches have been crafted in a beautiful shade of rose gold with either 39mm or 43mm cases. The 39mm Grande Seconde Off-Centered Meteorite comes in a diamond-set, or unadorned, yet equally striking option while the 43mm is also likewise free of diamonds. Only 88 unique pieces of each model will be available, adding an even more exclusive touch to the timepiece. The diamond-set 39mm Grande Seconde Off-Centered Meteorite has 256 diamonds on the case and lugs, weighing approximately 1.53 carats.
The meteorite dial of these Grande Seconde Off-Centered watches feature Jaquet Droz’s flagship 8-shaped dial in rose gold, off-centered by about 30˚, with the hours and minutes indicated in the smaller ring and the seconds shown in the larger ring. The hour, minutes and seconds hands are also applied rose gold, giving the timepieces a sense of seamless symmetry.
Fragment of History
For those lovers of grandeur seeking something even more exceptional, look no further than the 3 Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Off-Centered watches with a Stromatolite dial. One 39mm model, a 39mm model set with diamonds and a 43mm model. Stromatolite dates back almost 4 billion years and is a part of the Earth’s crust made up of living components and fossils. Owning this watch would make the lucky wearer part of the history and origin of life itself!
Each piece is completely unique and one-of-a-kind, showcasing the natural beauty and individual identity of the stromatolite fragment used. It doesn’t get more limited edition than that!
All the new Grande Seconde Off-Centered watches, with meteorite or stromatolite dials are powered by the Jacquet Droz 2663.P/2663A.P self-winding mechanical movement, with a 68-hour power reserve and visible through the sapphire crystal case back of the exceptional timepieces.
