Carl F. Bucherer has dived in to support the cause of the manta rays. The brand has created 188 unique watches for the Manta Trust.
The Patravi ScubaTec Manta Trust by Carl F. Bucherer is all of 188 timepieces. The watch is dedicated to the cause of manta rays. These sea creatures are endangered due to over-fishing. The UK-based Manta Trust is committed to working for manta rays in more than 20 countries. Carl F. Bucherer will donate part of the sales process to the Manta Trust.
Dive for a cause
The brand’s support for the cause is seen through the two manta rays pictured on the dial. Each watch is one-of-a-kind as it has a unique engraving on the back. It is of the stomach of an individual manta ray captured through an underwater camera. The identification number is engraved underneath it. This number enables the owner to visit the website and name the real manta ray.
The sporty look of the watch is made possible with luminiscent hands and stainless steel case. It has a rubber strap. It is easily readable under water. It features an automatic helium release valve, making it perfectly equipped for dives of up to 500 meters.
As part of the sales proceeds will be given to Manta Trust, it will finance a new scientific expedition. It will be to gather data about habitats of manta rays. It will be conducted in waters surrounding Maldives. The financing will help expand a database containing over 4,000 recorded individual manta rays.
“We can only introduce more effective protective-area measures for manta rays once we have identified the areas of critical habitat use for this species,” said Guy Stevens, CEO of the Manta Trust.
With such an important cause to work for, the Patravi ScubaTec Manta Trust is sure to impress diving enthusiasts.
