Only Watch 2017, the renowned charity auction of unique timepieces, is set to raise funds to find medicinal cures.
Over the years, Only Watch has acquired a brand status that few charities enjoy. The bilennial charity auction supports research in finding medicinal cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The seventh edition of the auction will be held on November 11, 2017, at 2.30 pm (Geneva time) at Four Seasons Hôtel, Geneva, Switzerland. The event is organized by Association Monégasque contre les Myopathies (Monaco Association against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy). It is supported by His Sovereign Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco.
Only watch has been generously supported by watch makers, actors, partners, auction houses and bidders. All participating brands offer their watches, partners offer their services, logistical or organisational supports. Since inception in its 2005, Only Watch has aggregated over 25 million Euros. The funds have financed numerous scientific and medical research programmes.
Each watch brand donates a special timepiece specifically made for Only Watch. It can also offer a one-off version of an iconic watch from the brand’s collection. The auction prices of the timepieces range from tens of thousands to several millions of Euros. There are more than 45 participating watch brands this year.
While each brand will present its piece-de-resistance at Only Watch, Handsontime brings you a select few watches that have caught our attention:
Chronographe Monopoussoir Rattrapante Bleu by F.P.Journe
This watch resembles a piece of art. It’s tantalum case and a movement of 14 lines in rose gold makes it a unique watch. The chrome blue dial sets it apart.
Magicafiore by Christophe Claret
A floral marvel, Magicafiore has a blue enamelled centre denoting a blue sapphire flower. The white gold case complements the blue beautifully. The bezel is adorned with 15 marquise-cut emeralds.
Venturer Concept Only Watch by H. Moser & Cie
This watch is an ode to red. The red fumé dial symbolises life and renewal. The leaf shaped hand off-set the white gold case. The alligator strap has red details, completing its vibrant look.
Grande Seconde Off-Centered by Jaquet Droz
The legendary Grande Seconde is reinterpreted. The figure eight sits against the fiery red of the cuprit dial. It is made of a copper-oxide-rich stone. Each inclusion, vein and detail of the dial makes for a singular masterpiece.
Black Tie vintage inspiration watch by Piaget
This watch has an unconventional shape. But the highlight of this piece is its hard stone dial encased in yellow gold. The brown alligator leather bracelet finishes the elegant look of the watch.
Defy El Primero 21 Only Watch Edition by Zenith
The titanium case of the watch flaunts yellow effects. It delivers remarkable chronometric performance. It bears the aesthetic, visual and audible signature of Zenith, down to the last detail.
