Maintaining an almost cult-like status in the world of haute horlogerie for a quarter of a century is no mean feat, and the Omega Seamaster Titanium Tantalum Limited Edition 300m is the ideal way for Omega to celebrate this milestone.
Launched in 1993, Omega’s Seamaster is an iconic diver’s watch with professional characteristics coupled with a chic aesthetic. Part of the new range of 14 distinctive Seamaster 300m models unveiled by the brand this year, the Limited Edition Titanium Tantalum Seamaster is a very special timepiece.
Omega Seamaster Titanium Tantalum Limited Edition
A Little Piece of History
For those fans of history out there, the Titanium Tantalum Limited Edition Seamaster 300m pays tribute to the original Seamaster 300m chronograph model from 1993 which was also available in the special tri-colour combination of Titanium and Tantualum with rose gold.
The 2018 Titanium Tantalum Seamaster 300m is not a chronograph, but it beautifully combines titanium with the blue-grey tantalum and Omega’s patented alloy of gold, copper and platinum, Sedna Gold, which maintains is red-gold colour and luster, unlike traditional rose gold, which often fades to yellow with time.
The dial also has a special waved pattern created using a laser engraving technique, and which was a prominent feature of the original Seamaster 300m watches from 25 years ago
The new Titanium Tantalum Seamaster 300m has a comfortably sized 42mm case and is powered by Omega’s in-house caliber 8806 movement which is certified as a Master Chronometer. The movement is visible through the sapphire crystal caseback which is beautifully etched with the Omega seahorse emblem.
The bracelet of the attractive timepiece, which would look equally striking on the wrist of a man, or a woman who prefers a watch with a bigger, bolder presence features grade 2 titanium links with two rows of blue-grey tantalum links in between. The tantalum links help to highlight the almost imperceptibly subtle differences between the two metals.
The Sedna gold accents on the bezel and crown of the 2500-piece Limited Edition Titanium Tantalum Seamaster 300m, as well as on either side of the tantalum bracelet links, provide an interesting visual effect which may not be to everyone’s personal taste, but we can definitely say that we’re fans of the versatile look.
