The Louis Vuitton Tambour Moon Mystérieuse Flying Tourbillon is the latest horological offering from the exceptionally luxe maison.
The Louis Vuitton name has been associated with the highest standards of the luxury industry since its founding in 1854. Known for its unique designs and exceptional quality in the field of leather accessories, Louis Vuitton has, over time established itself firmly as a creative force in other areas as well. Louis Vuitton’s excellent craftsmanship is reflected throughout its product portfolio and extends seamlessly to its collection of luxury watches.
With the signature concave case of the brand’s Tambour Moon collection, the Tambour Moon Mystérieuse Flying Tourbillon has a crescent shaped profile. The unique shape results in a delicate interplay between light and shadows, which enhances subtle beauty of the watch.
Louis Vuitton has adapted the concept of a mysterious movement with the Tambour Moon Mystérieuse Flying Tourbillon, which follows the other grand complication timepieces crafted by the maison including the Répétition Minutes, Skeleton Tourbillon Poinçon de Geneve and Spin Time.
Mysterious movements were originally developed in the 19th century and with the use of a complex mechanism of crystal discs, made the hands of a watch appear to levitate above the dial face. This awe-inspiring optical illusion is replicated today by replacing the crystal discs with sapphire crystals.
The manufacture LV 110 caliber of the Tambour Moon Mystérieuse Flying Tourbillon is set along a vertical line and is paired with a flying tourbillon escapement.
The double barrel of the mysterious movement is elegantly concealed under a Louis Vuitton signature Monogram Flower at 12 o’clock. The wheels in the centre, indicating the hours and minutes as well as the tourbillon cage at 6 o’clock appear to float in mid-air. The tourbillon carriage, which completes one rotation every 60 seconds is decorated by a small Monogram Flower.
The lightweight timepiece is highly stylized by the absence of any connection between the winding crown and the double barrel of the movement, which features a remarkable 8-day power reserve. The watch has a 45mm platinum case and a sleek black alligator leather strap fastened with a platinum buckle.
With the exceptionally indulgent option of adding a customized set of initials to the back of the tourbillon carriage, the Tambour Moon Mystérieuse Flying Tourbillon would make the perfect accessory for a woman well-versed in the subtle language of luxury.
