IWC Schaffhausen unveiled the new Da Vinci collection at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) watch fair in the presence of numerous high-profile IWC brand ambassadors and global stars.
Swiss watch manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen has been making one big announcement after another. After the luxury brand officially announced Sonam Kapoor as a brand ambassador for India, it presented the new Da Vinci collection at the SIHH.
Speaking about the launch, Georges Kern, CEO of IWC Schaffhausen said, “The new collection is a modern interpretation of the iconic Da Vinci design from the 1980s. Along with its Haute Horlogerie innovations, the collection once more includes references that have been designed deliberately with women in mind – as is indicated by various features such as smaller case diameters, moving strap horns, diamond-set bezels and leather straps by Santoni in various colours.”
Decoding the beauty of time
The gala evening was hosted by British comedy star Rob Brydon. The motto of the evening was “Decoding the Beauty of Time”. One of the highlights of the event came in the form of the performance from Danish singer MØ. During the dinner, CEO Georges Kern also passed the baton on to his successor Christoph Grainger-Herr. A short film with a contribution from US actor Kevin Spacey acknowledged the most important stages in Kern’s 15-year career. Later in the evening, guests enjoyed an elaborately staged holographic show featuring the actor Joseph Mawle, known for his role in “Game of Thrones”. The film portrayed Leonardo da Vinci’s tireless quest for the connection between science and aesthetics.
A star-studded affair
The event was graced by a slew of IWC brand ambassadors, international stars including Rosamund Pike, Vanessa Redgrave, James Marsden, Sonam Kapoor, Olga Kurylenko, Jean Reno, Naomie Harris, Zilin Zhang, Bolin Chen, Isabelle Huppert, Taylor Schilling and Patrick Stewart, sporting and racing legends Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton, Niki Lauda, Fabian Cancellara, Jan Frodeno and Jochen Mass, supermodels Karolina Kurkova and Adriana Lima, and influencers such as Nicole Warne, Kristina Bazan, Xenia Tchoumi and Negin Mirsalehi. Many guests also paid a visit to the booth at the SIHH. There, they had the chance to see the new collection designed in the style of an Italian palazzo.
A huge showcase in the form of a three-dimensional “Flower of Life” served as the visual centerpiece of the booth. This geometric pattern drawn by Da Vinci in his “Codex Atlanticus” also appears as an engraving on the case back of the Da Vinci Automatic 36 and the Da Vinci Automatic Moon Phase 36. Turning heads along with the models designed specifically for women was the unisex Da Vinci Automatic. Haute Horlogerie devotees delighted in the Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar Chronograph and the Da Vinci Tourbillon Rétrograde Chronograph.
