IWC Schaffhausen has been committed to the support of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation for over a decade, and recently launched the their 12th special edition Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII Edition ‘Laureus Sport for Good Foundation’, an exclsuive timepiece marking their association.
IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII Edition
The 41mm case of the Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII Edition ‘Laureus Sport for Good Foundation’ is crafted from black ceramic and has a blue dial, a feature common to all the watches launched by IWC specially for the Laureus Foundation.
The dial has a prominent date display at 3 o’clock and the black hands, indicating the hours and minutes are coated with a luminescent material, making them easily visible in the dark. The automatic calibre 35111 movement of the Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII Edition is protected against magnetic fields by a special soft-iron inner case, and the glass is secured against sudden drops in air pressure, both qualities that renders this timepiece a true pilot’s watch.
Time for Good
The titanium case back of the Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII Edition, like earlier IWC special Laureus timepieces, is embossed with a special piece of art work. Every year, the Laureus Foundation conducts a drawing competition amongst participants of its supported programmes, and the winning entry is immortalized on the back of the watch for that year.
This year, 11-year old Ana Claudia from Brazil won the competition, whose theme was ‘Time To Be Healthy’. We congratulate her wonderful effort!
The Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII Edition ‘Laureus Sport for Good Foundation’ is limited to just 1500 pieces and has an elegant black calfskin strap that strikes a beautiful contrast with the blue dial of the classically inspired timepiece. The strap fits comfortably on any wrist and gives the wearer yet another reason to feel good about their choice of timepiece. We at HOT too, believe wholeheartedly in the power of sport to bring people together and change the world, and give the Laureus Foundation and IWC Schaffhausen our full support in their noble efforts.
HOT Verdict: A fitting symbol to celebrate the unifying power of sport
