Celebrating its partnership with Chelsea Football Club, Hublot launches the Big Bang Chelsea FC.
Here’s what a modern day fable sounds like! Hublot and Premier League Champion share a passion for football, which is demonstrated in the timepieces the maison designs to honour the game. If the Classic Fusion Chronograph Chelsea FC unveiled in 2016 was Hublot’s first goal, then the Big Bang Chelsea FC is certainly its winning goal. The latest addition to the football-inspired watches by Hublot was announced at an event at Stamford Bridge.
Founded in 1905, Chelsea is London’s most central football club, based at the iconic 42,000-capacity Stamford Bridge Stadium. Chelsea was the UEFA Champions League winners in 2012. The Club lifted the UEFA Europa League trophy in 2013. It is the current Premier League champions.
The unveiling of the new timepiece was attended by Michel Pont, Hublot Football Consultant and former Assistant Coach of the Swiss National Football Team. Philippe Tardivel, Hublot Marketing Director, Benoit Lecigne, Hublot Brand Director for the UK, France, Belux, Eastern Europe and Scandinavia were present, too. Chris Townsend, Commercial Director of Chelsea FC, also graced the event.
As the VIP guests entered Stamford Bridge, they were ushered to their seats behind the home dug outs. From the pitch side, Michel Pont, Master of Ceremony, welcomed the guests. Hublot has a strong presence inside Stamford Bridge grounds. The brand is seen on LED score display screens and pitch-side banners, and through clocks displayed in key areas around the site.
Then, Chelsea FC star players Alvaro Morata, David Luiz, Danny Drinkwater and Cesc Fàbregas entered the pitch with their home jerseys. They carried a special Hublot and Chelsea FC ball with them. Each player dribbled the ball pitch side before they made their way to the center of the field. There a special Hublot and Chelsea FC plunger had been installed, walking at the sound of a 20-second countdown. As it reached zero, the new Big Bang Chelsea FC Limited Edition was revealed. A 12-meter high banner with the watch’s image came down from the London sky in a dramatic turn of events.
The launch of the Big Bang Chelsea FC was marked by a short table soccer tournament pitch side. The winning team was awarded two hospitality tickets to attend a Chelsea FC home game of the 2017/2018 season. The event wrapped up with tasting of a ‘SW6’ cake and photo ops with the players.
Hublot was the first luxury brand to invest in football in 2006. It has a close cooperation with FIFA as Official Timekeeper. In keeping with its passion for the game, the new watch extols ‘the Blues’, the Chelsea FC players. It features a 44mm stainless steel case and a bezel made of carbon fiber and blue Texalium. It has a blue sunray dial. The Chelsea lion logo is situated at 12 o’clock. The strap in rubber and blue alligator completes the look.
