Riva yachts are once more the muse for Runabout watches by Frederique Constant. The brand pays homage to the style and elegance of the 1920s when Riva boats ruled the social scene.
Riva yachts were the glory of the oceans in the ’20s. They sported the perfect balance between luxury, comfort and timeless elegance. With the launch of the two new Runabouts, Frederique Constant honours the grandeur of Riva.
Runabout Watches by Frederique Constant
Frederique Constant has a longstanding partnership with the Riva Historical Society. The Society is helmed by Piero Mario Gibellini and Carlos Riva. And its purpose is to preserve the remaining Riva boats worldwide. It also helps Riva owners safeguard their prized possessions in the best possible way.
The watch takes its name from the legendary Runabout yachts. The Riva Runabouts were originally small, fast and powerful. They were designed for 4-8 people who loved to indulge in fishing, water sports or cruising. This beautiful craft became the muse for the first Runabout watch launched in 2009.
Today, with the unveiling of the two new Runabout watches, Frederique Constant has redefined elegance. The timepieces feature hours, minutes, seconds, date and a 24h GMT with a guilloché-decorated dial and applied luminous indexes. The whole is completed by a 44mm polished stainless steel 3-parts case. It also has a see-through case back to show the inner workings of the FC-350 movement.
The first watch comes with a silver-coloured dial. It is complemented with a blue GMT hand and a matching navy blue leather strap. The dark grey dial of the second watch is contrasted with a white GMT hand with a light brown leather strap. Both versions are a limited edition of 2,888 pieces each. These Riva-inspired horological creations come in a luxurious wooden gift box. A detailed-wooden Runabout boat miniature is thrown in for good measure.
With the creation of this rivetting set of watches, Frederique Constant strengthens its ties with the Riva Historical Society. With these masterpieces, the elegance and style of the ’20s lives on.
