This is the only place where you find all the players of the watch industry under one roof: watch brands, jewellery brands, emerging design talents, retailers and distributors, watch aficionados, suppliers of diamonds, gemstones, pearls and machinery and the global press!
New for 2017
Watch brands at the fair include big conglomerates as well as independent watchmakers. At Baselworld 2017, “Les Ateliers” will showcase more independent watchmakers than ever before.
Considering that almost all the stakeholders of the watch industry are present at the fair, one would expect, and rightly so that the fair is the harbinger of key watch industry trends.

Mechanical watches with decades of heritage…newest watches with latest smart technology…this is one fair where you will find both these world coexisting harmoniously!
Every year, a member of the Swiss Federal Council inaugurates the show. This is a tribute to the high value of the show. This year, Federal Councillor, Alain Berset, Head of Federal Department of Home Affairs and Vice President of Federal Council will officially open the show.
Buzzing with global press
The very packed Baselworld Press Conference has press representatives from all over the world attending. It is also livestreamed so that more than 11,000 press members can devour it!
The last edition attracted more than 1,500 exhibitors from 40 countries, 145,000 visitors from 100 countries and 4,000 journalists from 70 countries. This year will only get bigger and better!
The history of the show dates back to 1917 with the opening of the first Schweizer Mustermesse Basel (muba), of which only a section was devoted to watches and jewellery!
The Baselworld fair has proved through decades of successful existence, that it represents not only the members of the world watch industry, but also the spirit of this unique industry…its creativity and resilience that has surpassed many challenges over the years and still always emerges more polished and strong than ever before!
