Music maestro Zubin Mehta returned to his city of birth, Mumbai, for conducting the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra at NCPA. His awe-inspiring performance, which included a violin concerto performed by the renowned soloist Pinchas Zukerman, was followed by an evening of celebrations in honour of his 80th birthday. The event organised by Rolex, which took place at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel on April 16, 2016, commemorated his commitment to western classical music.
To make this evening a memorable one for the maestro, Rolex presented him with an iconic Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day Date 40 in White Gold.
Touched by the gesture, Mehta said, “I am honoured to perform in the city of Mumbai, a city that is very dear to me. I would like to thank Rolex for making this tour so special by gifting me such a prestigious timepiece to mark this extraordinary moment.”
“The Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40, the timepiece gifted to Maestro Mehta is Rolex’s iconic model, a watch that is worn by more heads of state, leaders and visionaries than any other watch. Much like Maestro himself, the watch is appreciated for its performance and exceptional presence,” said Dorab Randeria, Managing Director, Rolex India.
